A4Vision Mobile Handheld 3D facial scanner was developed under contract with the Department of Defense. The mobile scanner, measuring 7" by 4" by 3", is designed to accommodate field enrollment, verfication, and identification and is suitable for existing applications in Law Enforcement, such as Driver's License verification. Utilizing real-time video, A4Vision's handheld mobile 3D scanner performs identification matching 20 times per second, accommodating motion and variable light conditions. A4Vision 3D technology utilizes near-infrared cameras to create light field that the face breaks into either a mesh of 20,000 points or a mask of 40,000 light points. Sub-micrometer measurements of hard tissue (bone) are recorded and compared to complete verification and identification.
